In love with Colorado College, but....

I don't think my parents would ever let me go.

I love the quirky / liberal environment and the scenery .......and just about everything about it. :(

Any suggestions for colleges on the EAST COAST (north or south!!) with similar attributes? I would also (preferably) like to be in a more "fun" area---with maybe a bit of a cool city / town surrounding it.

well, what did you like about CC?

and your parents won’t let you go because it’s too far from home? where is home?

what are your stats? your ECs? your intended major?

What is your budget?

@jkeil911‌ home is NJ, stats arent too great 31 act composite 32 superscore, 4.2 weighted gpa(my freshman year brings me down A LOT i got like a 2.7 uw that year, did really well junior year)

@happymomof1 right now i’m not concerned about the budget i’m just concerned about finding a few schools very similar to it, then worrying about that when i choose the schools to apply to.

i liked CC because of the quirky academic schedule, the veryyyy liberal/quirky student body, the amazing scenery, the size,… there wasn’t really anything that i disliked about it besides that the town of colorado springs didn’t seem extremely fun

Bennington, Skidmore, Hampshire, Bard, Goucher, New College of Florida, College of the Atlantic, Eugene Lang/New School (if you want a big city) . . . you might even qualify for decent aid at some of them. Swarthmore could be a reach for you.

@flyingbison7 That can be a good strategy. But do get some basic info out of our parents about the money thing so that you can find an affordable safety as a back-up in case you find you need one.

You really do need to focus on finances early in your search. Have your parents help you run the net price calculators at school to see what your likely cost of attendance would be, and find out how much they are willing to pay. No point in spending time looking at schools you can’t afford.

thanks @woogzmama‌

and @happymomof1‌ @intparent‌ money is not a huge issue for my family, and i already have a school i am applying to that i love that i know i will get a sizable merit scholarship to go to / doesn’t cost too much as is. i am just looking for more schools of the same type as CC because i am bummed that i will probably not be allowed to go out to colorado / the west.
