Against my better judgement I'll make one more foray into this subject. Lets use my least favorite scoring rubric as an example. College board statistics from 2004 ( ignoring gender differences) show using white student scores as par, some other groups score as follows: Asian +25, African American -202 and Mexican American -150. Using your statement that all groups should be treated equal and that there are no actual differences in abilities between various parts of the world, explain how you would use existing admission criteria to ensure the best students would be selected.

pebbles, I don't suffer from the same problems as you. Nor do I carry a large stick up my ass like you.

It must really suck to go through life bitter and alone, your only outlet being whining and insulting on a message board at people you find intimidating or threatening. I feel for you. I really do.

....And you still haven't answered me about the picture. Are you really that embarassed??

Just stop it. You're only humiliating yourself now. Walk away. This just isn't a battle you're going to win. (Just imagine how badly Ben would destroy you if he weren't a saint)

Just go back and reread what each of you just said.

We're already in the middle of a debate about judging people based on their race, why do we need to go on to bash people based on which coast they go to school on or how attractive they are or WHAT COLOR THEIR HAIR IS?!

For the love of God, tell me you're kidding.

makes incomprehensible noises of utter disgust

People, people, it's no shame to have a college with unattractive females. Every single elite college in the US works this way, whether it be MIT, Caltech, Harvard, all the way down to Duke and Stanford. Just be honest and accept it. I knew this going into my college, and it had no effect on my decision. Just be honest and open about it, and it'll save you a lot of grief. (I've seen this firsthand)

As any student of statistics knows, the mean is meaningless in evaluating an individual data point. There are very good-looking girls at any school, including MIT. But the average is grimly low, as it is with any top US college.

And please, pebbles, next time you pose for a photograph, keep all of your clothes on and don't dye your hair unnatural colors. As Clint Eastwood would say, "A man's gotta' know his limitations".

I blame LauraN for mentioning the topic, and BMWMeisterSinger and kcastelle for saying MIT girls are hot. Honesty people, honesty.

Re post #90, even if you claim you were trying to be funny, or something: Is there anything you could have said to be more condescending and/or insufferable?

What would you rather I say? That I find every single female in the world attractive in her own unique way? That all the girls at MIT could be top centerfolds? That I respect a woman only for her intelligence and strength of character, and put no consideration whatsoever in her appearance?

If I was a disingenous, PC-prattling, castrated male, then yes, I would say that. But I'm not. I'm giving you an honest, straight answer.

Some people have a real hard time with honesty...

I think we've just taken CC to new heights of glory. But I should say for the record that pebbles (near as I can tell) isn't in the pictures, which only corroborates my point of #76. (WHAT? what?)

(P.S. Would it be allowed for me to join Alpha Phi? I'm a little fuzzy on this stuff.)

[P.S. By the way I'm really really sorry that I wasn't around for the middle part of this delightful tea party. I had to go cuddle some rich people so they'd give Caltech more money.]

GL, notice I didn't say you were "hurtful." You were smug. My feelings weren't hurt. I was just...disgusted, I suppose.

The truth or lack thereof of what you say isn't really something I care about. That you ooze a completely unwarranted egotism is an entirely separate matter. Let's compartmentalize :)

It is generally frowned upon for males to join sororities. However, plastic surgery can do amazing things these days. I'm sure after some hormone therapy and extensive surgical work, APhi would be thrilled to have you!

"[P.S. By the way I'm really really sorry that I wasn't around for the middle part of this delightful tea party. I had to go cuddle some rich people so they'd give Caltech more money.]"

GL: I don't really care if you think you're being honest, I'm just wondering why you suddenly felt the need to start calling people ugly in rather harsh ways and mocking people because they decide to dye their hair unnatural colors. Nothing like being superficial, you know?

Jesus, why is everyone so ?#$%*!@ rude around here lately? It's Thursday night, go enjoy your weekend, people. Man.

To be eligible to pledge an NPC fraternity chapter on the campus where a woman is enrolled, she shall be regularly matriculated according to the definition of matriculation established by that institution.

You don't fit on the count of being a woman, nor on the count of being an enrolled MIT student (unless you're looking to transfer? ;))

It's a shame, really -- look at Ben's background. He was never encouraged to be a woman by his middle and high school educators, and now it's keeping him out of APhi. Would Ben make a good woman? It's impossible for us to say.
