I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the right spot but I need some advice. I live in Minnesota and I am greatly considering the University of Minnesota. It will be affordable for me and they have a decently selective biology college. However, and I know this is naive, but I’m concerned about seeing all of my friends ship off to selective private colleges and living on the coasts while I’m stuck here going to a school with everyone else from our high school. I feel like I don’t know what I want. I always wanted to move away for college. I need some direction.
What’s holding you back from private schools? Money? Travel distance?
Money, largely. I would be relying on merit scholarships.
You are incredibly wise.
Can you live on campus?
You don’t really know if the parents of those students have figured out the heavy costs of going out of state. Students get accepted, but when the FA packages come out, they learn really fast which colleges are affordable.
Stick to your school. It appears you know what you are doing.
