Hello fellow northwesterners :), anyways, I was admittted to weinberg college of A and S, as well as Cornell, U of Chicago, J hopkins, and Rice. I am strongly leaning towards NW and Cornell at the moment. I got into this special research scholars program at Cornell, which for a select few means that I will have guranteed research opportunities with professors and a nice amount of money to do my research and to fund paid trips and summer research stuff... However, I LOVE northwestern a lot. IDK what to do. My parents like the whole ivy league stuff about cornell and I am from New York, so it is closer (not really, b/c flying to NW is closer than driving from cornell to my house, but my parents think otherwise). Anyone else in this predicament. I am interested in pre-med, is it easier at northwestern than at cornell (hear they have massive grade-deflation). Please HELP!!!!!!!!!

Do whatever fits your personal and career goals. The Special Research Scholars Program at Cornell does sound very tempting. (I'm not bashing Northwestern, but the program sounds like something I would want to pursue.)

Pre-med is going to be similar at both of these schools so that shouldn't affect your decision. Both are obviously superior in academics, so at this point the deciding factor should be the atmosphere of the two schools. Both campuses are cold in the winter, but Northwestern is more beautiful than Ithaca. Cornell also is a lot bigger than Northwestern so that could influence your choice positively or negatively depending on your preferences.

Without the special research scholars I would go to NU, but with it Cornell is pretty tempting. Go to visiting students weekends at both.

Slipper, which one is looked at more highly in the academia world?? I realize they are both fabulous schools, just curious. From reading slipper's posts, i see that he is a Dart or Columbia alum, one of those lol.

I would say Cornell but the difference is so small its not going to make a substantial difference in any capacity...yeah I am a Dartmouth alum who transferred from Columbia (and now go there again for grad school), funny huh?
