in need of EC'S..

i have next to no extra curriculars.

aside from sports and clubs, what counts as an extra curricular activity? that might be a stupid question but.. please help if you can.

also, what kind of community service do you find most enjoyable?

I have little ECS especially last year... i mean i did Horseback and Piano and singing last year but thats all..this year i did A lot OF student Council i mean i was a big member...And i did some Yearbook...and other things...and next year im really cracking down...MY BIggest thing next year for CS will be dog shelter and i got a really good idea from my Principal and im actually going to visit it with my sign language club(a new club this semester done by my principal i thought it would help) Im going to the Hellen Kellar National Center...Im on a list to get training this summer...and I will start in the fall....i get to interact and hang out w/ the hearing and visionally impaired(i mean people who cannot see/hear)

wow that sounds fun, im not sure there's anything around here like that that i could do.

im thinking about volunteering at a nursing home or something with the elderly, but i dont know what they would have me do?

If you have no extracurricular activities, that may mean that the conventional sports-and-clubs sort of thing doesn't particularly interest you. (After all, if you actually liked it, you would already be doing it.)

How about a part-time job? In the eyes of colleges, it counts as an extracurricular. And you earn a little money, too.

Extracurricular activity is anything you do outside of classes. It doesn't have to be officially related to the school or even organized. What is it you like to do?

You can find a job or an unpaid internship. Perhaps volunteer in something related to the field you are interested in pursuing. Help out at the library. Work in the local community theatre. Take a distance course or self-study a subject you find interesting. Get involved in a political campaign or a public interest group. Work on an archaeological dig.

If you want to work with the elderly, call around and see what's available and what needs to be done -- helping in a nursing home, hospital, or hospice, delivering meals on wheels, taking folks to doctor's appointments, doing yardwork, housework, or errands, etc.

In other words, figure out what you are interested in and find a way to spend some time doing it, or at least around it. Don't view this as another ticket that needs to be punched on the way to college -- find something that you would like to do even if colleges didn't ask.

I basically slumped off last year..
cruddy grades..
cruddy ecs...
This year:
average grades...
average ecs...
U see the point and what im heading for next year...
