In need of engineering advice

Hi I'm new to this forum but I've been reading the posts on here for a lot of different issues. With my most current I couldn't find a forum with my specific predicament so here I go.

I'm a fourth year engineering student who switched from mechanical to Industrial engineering. I like the leadership qualities IE brings but after my most recent manfuacturing internship, I feel like I can approach situations in a much more technical manner (many of the projects were mechanically related, thermo and fluids.) Working with heat exchangers and booster pumps has given me motivation to want to learn more about them and ultimately own my own HVAC company in the future. My only issue is that I have about a year or three semesters left, and I already switched majors and went through two internships. I don't have any ME courses but I finsihed all my general engineering undergraduate requirements. The only thing now is that I want to end up working in a more technically inclined field that will let me challenge myself in critical thinking. If I switched back, It would probably take me 3 semesters flat to finish as a Mechanical engineer.

My questions

Is it worth changing, especially so late? many IE's do ME work, including CAD design however I don't know how many cases this is relevant in.

Do employers typically see something like that? and if so, does it negatively affect their decision of you?

I'd appreciate any advice from anyone willing.
