hi,please help im stuck in an infinite loop with no way out
Im a Syrian student , 19 years old, I finished my first year in IT in my country's most leading engineering school/university,and was planning to continue but my country now is inhabitable due to a revolution against a bloodthirsty tyrant president, bad enough that i lost the academic year 2013 for this, as stupid as it sounds I DONT KNOW HOW TO ENROLL MYSELF IN ANY COLLEGE, I enter a university website and get lost there,no idea how! i wrote to half a dozen colleges in chicago they all told me this is not the way of admission,Im fluent in English,I speak french well and understand it even better,I got in my senior highschool year bacaloreat degree 95%, in my first -and only- year in my college I was classified the fourth student of my class,I have a computer maintenance expert certificate from ILAFTrain and currently enrolled in CISCO's "CCNA Exploration 1: Network Fundamentals" I work well and adapt quickly under pressure,BUT I Dont know how to follow the map of admission and paper work, bad enough that im foreign and in need of visa,I think I need a scholarship because my parents can only help me up to 10000$ first year till i stand on my feet alone (so much for paperwork) and im lost
bad enough if i enrolled anywhere probably i'll need to repeat the first year which is okay with me. I lost 2 years, fine
but the idea of missing the deadlines and losing a third year is devasting.please help, any college would work for me anywhere!

The common app is what you use to apply to colleges. Do you have standardized test scores? Do you have a transcript that shows all of the academic work you’ve done?

nabjad: please read through the information in this site

You might want to post this in the International Student Forum. Go to the main page where all of the forums are listed, and scroll down to find it.

Change the title of your thread to something that better describes your situation. That way people who can help you will be more likely to notice it. For example: “Syrian transfer student can’t pay much”

Wishing you all the best.

Hey. I feel for you and your country in this situation and I have you in my prayers.

Well, first thing you should do is visit [College Admissions - SAT - University & College Search Tool](http://www.collegeboard.org/) to find out about colleges, their deadlines and application materials they require. It’s quite late, but many colleges have deadlines till January 15 and later so if you hurry, you may send an app on time. However, I’m afraid most colleges don’t offer financial aid to transfer students. Nevertheless, your background is very strong and I think there some colleges that would want you.

I also encourage you to consider applying to a university in my country, Poland. The studies aren’t very expensive, they’re of high quality and you can study in English. Visit [Home page](Home - Study in Poland) to find out more.

I hope this helps and that somebody else will explain more. I keep my fingers crossed for you.

All the best,

At the computer now, rather than on the mobile device so I can post links more easily. T26E4 has given you the best link for general information about colleges admissions in the US. Read through all of it. I would usually advise a student to follow that by contacting the closest advising center. However, given the situation in Syria, the local center is currently closed. The staff in Washington, DC will answer your questions by skype, facebook, twitter, etc. When you have internet access, you can get assistance with the process. Here is the link:
[EducationUSA | Center Profile - EducationUSA Syria Virtual Advising Office](http://www.educationusa.info/Damascus)

You also should be able to get assistance through the offices in countries near you. Use the links on this page to find their contact information:
[EducationUSA | Find an Advising Center](http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php)

If your goal is to complete your education, and you do not specifically need to be in the US, you should investigate options in other countries as suggested by Bart above. Contact the Education Officer at the closest consulates of the countries that might work for you, and ask about your options in those countries.

Keeping you in our thoughts.

@1rachel94 for the standarized test score,my university was more like a polytechnic engineering school so the standard GPA doesnt apply so i’ll have to take the equivalence of the subjects i took,as for the transcript yeah i have my grades, documents, subjects and certificates all verified and scanned

and thanx everyone i’m checking all the links you’ve send me right now,and will keep u postponed, thanx

Try Canada especially Quebec.
