In need of help

I posted this in another section, and I did not get any feedback.

I just viewed my January SAT results and the number is 2330. I am a senior from Wyoming who has applied to a few lower ivies and the University of Chicago. Does my SAT score qualify me for any scholarships (4.0 GPA un-weighted and a few extra-curriulars), and if so, is it too late to apply? Did I make a mistake not applying to schools like Princeton, Stanford, etc.?

You didn't make a mistake with your applications unless you applied to schools that you didn't want to go to. UChicago and the "lower Ivies" (guessing Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, UPenn? Some combo thereof?) are hardly low shots. A 2330 is a great score, obviously, but it wouldn't allow you to waltz into Princeton, Stanford (or Cornell, Dartmouth, etc. for that matter).

Your score is certainly high enough for scholarship consideration, and if you bum around the internet I am sure that you will find some. Maybe if you get really lucky, you will get a great scholarship at UChicago (assuming you get in :)!) and will be able to go to a really big-time school (in a great city!!!) for cheap.

I def would have applied to Stanford and Princeton. As crazy as it may seem why don't you call over to the admissions office and see if there is any way you still could or have your advisor do it. Those scores are high enough to apply just about anywhere.

Getting a higher SAT score shouldn't make you apply to a place you didn't have interest in before. A higher score certainly won't tip the scales in your favor if you weren't qualified with your original scores.

Be confident in where you have applied! It's not like you applied only to Podunk 3rd Tier State University, and now you have a 2330 and have wasted your potential. You applied to UChicago and other "lower Ivies"--all excellent, excellent schools. Are they as prestigious as Stanford or Princeton? Maybe not, if we are really splitting hairs. But anyone who would claim that those aren't top tier schools is...a little too obsessed with the prestige factor, in my opinion. Plus, not to make you anymore regretful that you might already be, but there is no way now that you can apply to Stanford/Princeton. This might--emphasis on MIGHT--happen if you were really famous/from a really famous family (one of the Bush daughters was able to apply after the deadline), but just having regrets is not compelling. And, like I said before...a 2330 is a great score, but not even close to a shoo-in type of score.

dumb question...you will never know if you don't make the phone call...Good Luck!
