In need of help!!

So I was told by a teacher that once we filled out our fafsa, we would automatically be qualified for the cal grant. So I've gone this whole time assuming this was true.
But just today a friend told me that there is some separate application for the cal grant. Is this true?? If so, am I at all eligible for it still?

The only separate thing you turn in for the Cal Grant is a GPA Verification Form. You turn this form in to your school counselor, and they will submit your GPA to the Cal Grant people. Otherwise, there is no separate application. (Though Cal Grants have already been awarded)

So I no longer qualify?

The financial aid people said they turned mine in for me. Call them.

A majority of the time, your school sends in the GPA Verification form for you. But check with your counselor and see if they did it for you or if you had to do it yourself. At this point though, the Cal Grants have already been awarded, so if your form hasnt sent in, you probably wont be getting a cal grant

Will I be able to apply for a Cal Grant next year (entering sophomore in college)?

Yeah. Each year is independent of one another, so you’d qualify next year

Some clerical error prevented me from receiving my Cal Grant funding last year, so I notified UCSD that I could not receive my Cal Grant funding so they adjusted my financial age package and actually gave me the money Cal Grant could not (they increased my UCSD Grant-In-Aid or whatever it is called). So don’t be stressed that you will be losing money, because they may cover you as in my case.

^ wow, that is (quasi-)relieving. Thanks, schw1ng =]
I REALLY hope it works out like that; if it doesn’t, I’m utterly effed.
