in need of some advice! (:

so i just got back my latest score reports (like many of us!) and am faced with a bit of a discrepancy... i improved both my ACT and SAT scores significantly, but there is a big gap between the two!

my ACT composite is a 35... 35 E 36 R 34 M 33 S
up from a 33 in April... 36 E 30 R 31 M 34 S

my SAT is now a 2190... 720 M 720 CR 750 W
up from a 2050 in March... 680 M 680 CR 690 W

I also have a 770 on the Chem SAT II, and am planning to take Literature and Math II in the fall.

i'm looking to apply at UPenn (SEAS), Northwestern, UChicago, and Notre Dame in particular, with a ton of others still on my list of possibilities.

my question is this - should i try to improve my SAT scores one more time, or just go with using my ACT where such a practice is allowed? after the improvement i made, i'm reasonably confident i could bump them up a bit more, as i still did not do much prep for either test.

thank you in advance! (: i'll reply to any thread links you post here in return.

Your ACT is on the moon; you are basically done…why would you bother with the SAT again?
and every school on your current list^allows you to send just your ACT…

thank you so much! i was just worried that not having any SAT scores might not look as good. whew, how good that is to hear. haha.

any other opinions?

Unless you think you can get a great SAT score (2300+) it would be a waste of time - even then I think your 35 ACT is equivalent. So unless you’re applying to Ivy League schools you shouldn’t retake; unless of course you love taking the SAT :)

welll i know that everyone adores taking their SAT, right?
haha thank you. i’m not sure if i would be able to make that great of an improvement. the ACT is just a better test for me.
so even with UPenn, do you believe my 35 is satisfactory? I think that’s the only Ivy i will shoot for.
