In need of some advice

I got accepted to ucsb and ucsd, but got rejected from ucla. I had a 3.31 and TAP and i didn't mind getting into my alternate major which was philosophy. I called the admissions lady and she said i didn't get into phil because i didn't complete the pre reqs. (1/4) So my question is should i stay another year at cc, get my GPA up, take the three phil courses and reapply? Would i have a good shot?

I say so. If UCLA is your dream school, do it. I would also appeal and see what happens. tell them you’ll take it over the summer. Worth a shot, what do you go to lose?

I’m going to do the same. UCLA is my dream school…and to me it’s worth waiting another year for…

You shouldn’t pigeonhole yourself into one specific school especially when there’s no guarantee you will get in the next year. If you really need to stay close to home or anything like that then that’s a different story. Those other two schools are both great and chances are you’ll have just as good of a time there as you would at UCLA.

Raise your GPA, finish your prereqs and apply next year.

In my opinion, it will be well worth it.

Take those classes plus some (easy easy classes). And apply again but if next year doesn’t work out either, attend your second choice…

Thanks guys i appreciate the feedback.

I would just go to one of the other schools that you applied to. I got into UCSB last year and couldn’t go and I Still haven’t heard back from them this year so it looks like I’m not getting in, and that’s just at SB. I can’t imagine what it would be like I UCLA, I say go somewhere else and aim for LA for grad school
