Hey guys
I stumbled upon this site, and I think it's amazing--lots of good information and good advice from people on these boards. At any rate, I know it's a while from now, for most of us, but are residencies partial to people who go to their institutes med. school? Thanks.

Not partial to a particular medical school but it could be argued that they are partial to top medical schools.

really? i thought some residencies might be inclined to give a slight edge to students who went through their own medical school?

i've heard of some medical schools holding a slight preference towards students who went to their college

@bharath: Thanks for the info
@impactangel: That's what I though too; I could understand why the top residency programs wouldn't do that, but maybe it's gotten so competitive that the edge is negligible in every program.

i think med students tend tp go to a residency program that is extended of their medical school because getting a residency is about who u know and about who can support you; ifs easier to get to know people in a resdiency program and establish connections when you are at that medical school; also if you do well in the rotation u plan to take up a resdiency for, then that department in the med skool can support you and it will be much easier to support you to the same family who knows that department and curriculum well to evaluate the student a lil better
