In school or outside school activities

Admission Daniel, I would like to know if selective schools like JH look for certain EC when evaluating a candidate.
Like, my son who is very very involved with few outside school activities( passionately involved with certain sport and community services etc..) has really no time to get involved with in-school activities, although has few but is not deeply involved. How is this looked upon? thank you

As always, I can only speak on how we do things at Hopkins. Pretty much though an activity is look like as an activity, no matter if it is in-school or outside of school. For example a student who takes Karate lessons every day after school for three hours a day, is looked at in many the same ways as a student on a varsity sport. It is not centrally the activity that matters, but the time commitment, the leadership level involved, and the passion shown.

Much more about extracurriculars can be found here:

thank you very much for your reply.
