In school transfer to College of Nursing

Currently a SAS sophomore at Rutgers trying to transfer into the CoN.

I just finished the fall semester and was able to pull my GPA up to a 3.3, I know, it sucks. I'm taking a winter course to bring it up a bit more. If all goes as planned I should have a 3.5 by the end of the year when I apply to Con.

I will have completed all of the first year requirements besides Trends in healthcare and cultural dimensions (unless I get in via waiting list). As for second year I have completed stat, N&H, Chem I & II + chemlab (covers organic biochem requirement), technology course, anatomy I&II (at county college), and the electives.

I have courses going for me but my GPA isn't where it should be. I'm a guy which I'm hoping will help, I am also an officer of a club, and an EMT.

Anyone hear of people with similar circumstances getting in? Anyone else trying to apply in 2014? Any success/failure stories would be appreciated.

I do not know anything about the nursing program, but as a backup, could you apply to another school or 2? [Nursing Programs in New Jersey | New Jersey Nursing Initiative](http://www.njni.org/nursing-programs)

Good luck!

hi, i’m a sophomore in the nursing school now though i didn’t transfer in. unfortunately i don’t think they’ll accept your a&p credits because they only allow you to take science classes at rutgers. i tried to take microbiology at a cc but they wouldn’t let me.

when i was applying myself, i saw that they only accepted transfers with gpas of 3.8. :frowning: good thing is that they pretty much only accept transfers from rutgers. definitely schedule a meeting with denise santangelo or some other administrator person and see what they have to say about your stats. they’ve always been very helpful to me.

good luck!
