in SERIOUS need of help

So I just got rejected from Hamilton College where I applied ED, and now I'm thinking that I stand no chance at other schools I'd like to attend.

If I get into BC, Tufts, or Wheaton I'll be happy. But I think my chances are slim...so I need some schools that I can definitely get into similar to the ones I listed. I've seen practically every school in New England, and I just can't see myself anywhere else besides those schools. I don't have many options left(and time is running out), so if there are any schools, from whatever region of the country, that I can get into, feel free to share them.

Male, 3.5 UW, top 10%, 2150(740 CR, 720 W, 690 M).

I've already been accepted to my safety schools but I can't see myself at any of them.

I'm looking for International Relations or Government.
Thanks!

i'm wondering how you got rejected from hamilton with those stats

I don't know, either. All I know is I'm totally screwed, haha.

Sorry to hear the news. Check into Dickinson (excellent in your intended fields of study), Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg and Dension. All are excellent schools. Best of luck!

Will you apply to Hamilton for regular admission? Would you consider Kenyon?

No, I was straight out rejected. I can't apply again.

steved, I would ask your guidance counselor to call on monday to see if he/she can get any insight into why you were rejected. It might be that there is something about your application that you need to "fix" and it would be good to know about it before you apply to all the rest of your schools.

I might take a look at Holy Cross, Colgate and Trinity and, if you need schools that are easier to get into Clark, University of Vermont and Hobart and William Smith

Well I did pass in a financial aid form almost a month past it's due date. Hamilton had a supplimental form(which asked for the same information as the College Board Profile) that wasn't in my application booklet. I'd assume that only had to do with getting financial aid, not admission, though.

Goucher and American. You are a great candidate and might get merit $$. Goucher looked incredible to us for international studies. Check it out!

midatlmom has given you great advice. If would be also useful to know why so few of the NE LACs were unappealing to you. What was it about them you didn't like?

Some of these have been mentioned. They have some of the characteristics of Hamilton.

Trinity
Colgate
Franklin & Marshall
Dickinson
Lafayette
Kenyon
Denison
Kalamazoo
Macalester
Lawrence
Sewanee
Washington & Lee
Rhodes
University of Richmond
Whitman
Occidental

The further afield you go, the easier the admission, generally.

Good luck!

Wow, I can't believe you got rejected from Hamilton! Did you have like zero ECs or something that should have kept you out?

This terrifies me for my RD to Hamilton...

Lol, no. I have good ECs. Two sport Varsity athelte, Double Bass Player, Student Government, Community Service. I know some amazing students from elite boarding schools that got rejected from Hamilton...so maybe they just hate my area. Or maybe my essays just sucked. / enough excuses.

That's weird... Maybe huge applicant pool? If I get in, I'll know something is messed. You're such a better candidate.

I'll cry a bit, then congratulate you.

I'm baffled. Did you like cheat or something in school? I'm trying to come up with ANYTHING that would make them flat-out reject you. One of your teachers hate you? Are you housing Osama Bin Ladin? Anything!?

I did have two Cs on my junior year transcript in Precalc and Physics...but my other classes balanced out my GPA. And do they defer?! Now I really feel bad...and I didn't cheat on anything. But I did pass in that financial aid thing in late.

I don't know why a late financial sheet should change something... They're basically need-blind. Oh well, the way I see it is it's their loss!

This doesn't bode well for acceptances this year. Another year like last year.

I'm pretty confidant about getting into BC now. Everyone and their mom from my school got in. People with MUCH lower stats.
