In So Much Stress To Pass This Class to Get Admitted. HELP!

Hi everyone

I am currently a student at a California Community College. I plan to apply to USC at the end of this year (having completed 30 transferable units)

I am currently taking a Math 125 Course and my average is a D. My professor is not giving me any opportunities to pass the course, so I am pretty much doomed, unless I do good on my final exam.
I don't want this class to be the reason that I was not admitted to USC, because USC is going to be the only school I apply to, and in fact my DREAM SCHOOL.

I can do three things at this point:
Drop the class, receive a W, then re-take in the summer and get an A (for sure if I re-take this I will get a definite A)
Fail the class, receive an F, then re-take in the summer and get an A
Try to pass, if I do, I will get (at the highest) a C+ and will not retake the course, but move up in math

In my opinion, and if it was solely up to me and USC did not care about F's or W's, I would drop and re-take in the summer. For the reason being that re-taking the course would help build a better fundamental base for higher levels of math.

I am a straight A student in all other subjects. The reason I am even failing this course is because of my job, which has forced me to spend many overtime hours during the days of my math lectures.
Maybe I can submit that as a reason as to why I dropped/failed? I am just at cross roads as to if it is worth doing/dropping/failing.

The thing is, this course isn't even transferable, so it's not going to effect my transfer GPA. But the course is essential because it is a minimum requirement for application. Now, I know they are going to consider my summer courses as well, and in summer I will be taking Pre-Calc regardless.

If you can get a C- or better, do so. If you are certain you will get a D+ or lower drop and re-take.

Would recommend using Khan Academy videos to help you study.

But regardless, even if USC is your dream school is it risky to pin your hopes on a single college. They only a small percentage of the applicants and even students with straight A’s are finding no room at the inn.

Good luck. But have a back-up plan even if you pass the course.
