I'm currently completing my U of M application and I am a Michigan resident. On the application it says you have to file an application for Michigan residency or risk having to pay out of state tuition. Now, the deadline says September 30th for Fall Term; does this mean in 2009? What if we didn't turn this in because we didn;t see it and nobody told us? Can we still be eligible for financial aid? Ahh! I'm freaking out!

Help!

The deadline means if you are currently a student there and you think you qualify for instate residency. So let's say you're accepted and you enroll there, but for some reason they say you don't qualify for in state tuition. It would mean you have until September 30, 2009 to apply to have your residency status changed in order to pay the in state tuition for the Fall 2009 term. Basically, just submit your application; you should be okay in terms of residency. You should not have to file a separate residency application unless you get an email from them a few days after you submit your application. I did, but it was something that was easily solved over the phone.

All right, thank you so much!

i was denied in state... although clearly i was instate, it took them like 20 weeks to get it fixed.
