my freshmen year grades were bad(3.0) but improved each year...have a 4.0 senior year and overall of 3.4</p>

<p>I think WHERE in NC you are from (the specific HS) makes a difference. I know of kids who had stellar grades and scores in the 2100 - 2200 range that posted last spring they were denied, all because SO many top kids from their top high school also applied. I think it is more competitive to come from, for instance, Charlotte, than it is to come from a small town. That's just my take after reading the admit stats and posts from last spring. Your GPA is pretty low overall for UNC CH (college board average has it at 3.85). In any event GOOD LUCK. We're in state too and waiting for Jan. 15th to arrive!</p>
<p>Does your high school have Naviance or something similiar? Can you look at stats on kids from your high school who apply, who gets in, who gets denied? Naviance will give you the scatter diagram of GPA and SAT scores, and shows on a scatter those who are admitted and those who are denied. It could be helpful in evaluating the admittance patterns from your high school and where you fall in that group. Good luck.</p>
