I think your chances are excellent but make sure you really spend the time necessary to also have great essays.

Do you have any ECs or outside interest that pertain to anything athletic? It could be hiking and biking, golf, tennis, etc. I know there is some component of hiking/camping with scouts but just wondered if there is anything else.

If I were you, I would seek a Morehead nomination from your school and if they have other thoughts, I would self nominate.

Scouting is my main source of athletic activity since I am one of the biggest klutzs on the planet, in fact I am writing my short essay about doing something that I am not good at about biking trip I did with scouts. Also if it makes any difference I had a cousin who went to Carolina (probably won’t affect much but I thought it wouldn’t hurt mentioning it on the app.)

I agree. You’re pretty much a likely in. I would really show the passion it sounds like you have for scouting in the essays. Get good recs and you’re a lock dude.

I’m not sure how this in-state thing works with the counties and such. but I think if you have good essays you’ll have a good shot. Good test scores and impressive AP courseload

I think you’ve got a good shot. It looks like UNC would be a low match for you, but as you’re probably well aware, the whole admissions process is a bit sporadic.
