In-state community college transfer.

Has anyone had experience with transferring to UW from an in state cc? Or know if anyone who has? There's not a lot of info or stats online about it. I've already applied and everything but I'm in that awful stage of waiting until June and I would love to hear some stories or stats to compare myself to so I can figure out my chances. Thanks!

Take a look through this. I have the same exact question though.

What is the difference between a 2-year transfer and a 4-year?

Yeah I saw that too on another thread. I just hate that it doesn’t provide info on the GPA range or SAT scores.

And I think the difference is, a two-year transfer is someone who is transferring from a 2-year school, and a four-year transfer is someone transferring from another 4-year university.

That’s what I thought too, but what I don’t understand is why the acceptance rate is so low from other 4-year universities.

Well I know they give top priority to in state cc transfers with 90 credits. I went to one of the transfer Thursday meetings and the presenter made that point a few times.

Thanks, I appreciate the info.

hey, i applied for fall admissions and i haven’t heard back as well. i’m kind of anxious–june is a long time to wait! if you don’t mind me asking, what is your college gpa? i go to an in-state comm. college and my college gpa is a 3.6 … just want to see if that is within range of most transfers! :)

Hey to all unsure about their transfer GPA, I just read on the UW website that their mean transfer GPA ranges from a 3.16- 3.73. So a 3.6 puts you at the top.

NickZig–Where did you read that? Just curious. I’m in that range so to see that stat gets my hopes up!

@staks----
Well, I was on this page: [Transfer Credit Policies — Plan — Transfer — University of Washington](http://admit.washington.edu/Requirements/Transfer/Plan/CreditPolicies)

If you scroll to the bottom, there should be a random fact about transferring to the UW. The one I happened to get stated the average GPA.

Yeah I remember them saying like 3.2-3.7 being the average transfer GPA. Priority is given to students who:

 • Attended a washington state community college
 • Have at least 90 transferable credits
 • Have an transfer degree
 • Are prepared for their intended major

After that its all based on the quality of your personal statement and your GPA.

For comparison sake, here are my stats:

 • attended Skagit Valley Community College
 • transfering with my AAUCT
 • at time of graduation will have 111 college credits (almost all are transferable)
 • 3.95 GPA
 • applied for summer quarter

This wait is killing me though- I hate checking every day to see if there is a change. -.-

When’re they going to have more meetings / where can I find information on the dates?

[UW Advising - Transfer Thursday](http://www.washington.edu/uaa/gateway/advising/transfers/tt.php)
The meetings are every Thursday at UW.
