Is there any difference between in state and out of state transfer students as far as admission rate? I know they admit a certain amount of in state community college students each year, but does someone who lives in Virginia and goes to a school out of state have an easier time transferring in than does an out of state student?

I have no idea. I’m appying for fall 09 admission as a transfer stdent. I live in VA, but applying from a PA school…

As long as you’re still a resident of VA (didn’t change residency to the other state) and pay taxes and all that jazz, you’re still IS for UVa. Going to an IS/OOS school doesn’t mean anything, it all comes down to your state of residency. So if you’re IS, you’re competing against other IS students, regardless of whether you currently attend Texas Tech or Virginia Tech. If you don’t live permanently in VA, you’re competing against other OOS students, even though they could go to VT right now.
So since it sounds like you both as IS, you’re vying against other IS students. As far as the CC-thing goes, I’m not sure what to tell you. They’re going to have to admit some, which lowers the number of spots for kids like you who are actually applying against others for spots. They’d also like to up the number of CC entries, but I wouldn’t worry about it. There’s not much you can do about it other than make your application as strong as it can be.
