In-state tuition after you moved to a different state

I used to live in New Jersey till I was about 8 then i moved to long island in new york where i am graduating from highschool. If my dad still works/owns a business in new jersey (pays NJ taxes) and my grandmother (who i can say i live with sometimes) lives in New Jersey. Can I get in-state tuition?

You are presumed to be a resident of the place where your parents (or parent who has custody) have their principal place of residence (not where their business might be). As long as your parents are living and provide any support (at all), you will not get resident tuition based on grandmother’s residence even if you took up residency there.

You are a resident of New York State. Same as you were when you asked last week.

The good news is, New York State has some fine public universities where you can get resident tuition. The bad news is, Rutgers isn’t one of them.

OP, you didn’t like the information provided in your last thread?
