Been legal resident of Georgia since birth, and graduated Ga. High school. I plan to attend UGA as transfer from another GA school. however, my parents may be moving out of state for a job sometime this summer. Can I still get in state tuition? I am financially dependent on my paretns.
While I’m not expert on taxes and government, I believe you’ll have in-state tuition as long as one of your parents keep paying Georgia taxes. I don’t know whether that’d be possible in your case, since both are moving.
You might be better off asking in the Financial Aid and Scholarships board.
Seems a bit unfair since parents paid Ga taxes for 30 years. Good suggestion about asking the Financial Aid Board.
Thanks
Our GA residency was confirmed when my d started as a freshman. As far as I am aware it has not been checked again. If your parents are residents when you transfer I don’t see it being a problem. However, I would call and check.

If you are denied it looks like you could petition for instate.
Sally, Thank you so much for the tip. Thru your link I found the following and yes, indeed a student can continue to get in state tuition even if parents move. http://www.usg.edu/policymanual/section4/C329/ GA Regent regulations 4.3.2.2
