Hey guys, Im pretty excited about UCLA. GO BRUINS!!!

Some of my friends who are attending other public universities as OOS students say that if your grades are good enough, you get to pay in-state tuition rates even though you are OOS.

Can anyone tell me if UCLA does this?

UCLA does not do that.

so no matter how excellent you are at UCLA, there is no way for an OOS student to get in-state tuition?

Yeah there's a way to get in-state tuition... you have to file taxes as an independent in the state of California for 1-2 years (I think it depends on the UC but for sure it's at least one year) and show that you can support yourself. Or, you can get married to a California resident and/or have a child in CA. This site.

What if I apply as a dependent of a California resident and an employee of UCLA?

Wherever state your parents file their taxes (and list you as a dependent), you are a resident of that state.

Did you not read the IS/OOS faq on that site?
