So I'm really trying to avoid out of state tuition I've lived in Ohio all my life and just recently moved into Indiana for the rest of high school my parents still own the Ohio address and I will most likely be staying there will i still be able to get instate tuition even if i apply to a school in Ohio or UM?

You will never get in-state tuition if you decide to attend UM.

You get the enjoyment of paying 50k+ tuition like the rest of us OOSers.

But look at the bright side. If you pay $50K/year, you are GUARANTEED to get a six-figure job immediately on graduation. Wait, where is that guarantee again? I know its around here somewhere.

Why would an Ohio resident (of all states!) get in-state tuition in Michigan?! ;)

LOL, but I do feel sorry for the Toledo kids…so close driving…yet so far away financially…OP another chiming in that you won’t get in-state tuition for Michigan.

Don’t some kids who live close to the boarder get instate tuition at some public schools in Michigan? I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that before.

The two addresses your parents own are in Indiana and Ohio, neither of which are Michigan. Why on earth would you get instate tuition? Did you mean to post this on the Ohio State forum?

^^Not at UMich, Vlad. Ever.

There is no guarantee of 6 fig salary. U may get $70k/yr. It is waste of money to come to UofM spending $50k/yr. U will repent later. Just be happy with Ohio State U. It is no less of a school.

OSU is definitely excellent, but we should not discount IU-Bloomington. It is also an excellent university. If the OP can get in-state status at either one of those two excellent Big 10 schools, it would be a great value for money.

swamyswamy “Just be happy with Ohio State U. It is no less of a school.” ho ho ho, just keep telling yourself that over and over and maybe someone will believe it.

The original question is not a bad one as Big Ten schools Minnesota and Wisconsin have a reciprocity agreement that allows Wisconsin residents to attend Minnesota public universities at in-state tuition rates and vice versa. Not sure which other states/schools that have this type of agreement but Michigan does not.

^^iU is one of the most beautiful campuses anywhere on earth, IMHO, and Bloomington is an awesome little college town.
Slap, if you haven’t gone to check it out, you should! You May be quite happy to be instate in indianna then, as the school has some very generous automatic scholarships for high stat students ;)

“I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that before”…really, Vlad?? No, slap, you won’t get in state tuition if you live out of state. Hence the distinction.

i’m not stupid I thought it was ok for people in ohio to get n state because were so close to the border I have heard it more than once It was just an inquiry this isn’t a question of which school is better plus OSU is a party school and IU is a party school the only reason i asked is because UM’s instate is ridiculously expensive!!! and if there was anyway to get around it I was willing to know. Plus indiana dosent have a variety of majors down here its either IU or purdue where as university of michigan has high standing in all of them

Don’t be silly. It happens in many places.

OOS cost just went up to 52k…

I think Toledo offers in-state tuition to Michigan residents and EMU offers in-state tuition to Ohio residents.
