In state tuition?

I'm currently a Junior in high school living in Illinois, and I plan on attending Michigan State when I graduate. I have heard that to get in state tuition, at least one of my parents has to be a resident of the state. Is that true? Is there anything else you have to do? My family has had a lakehouse in Michigan since before I was born, and my mom can easily become a resident of the state.

You could look at these websites to see if you qualify:

[MSU RO:Out-Of-State Tuition Regulations](<a href=“MSU RO: Error 404: Web Page Not Found”>MSU RO: Regulations for Qualifying for In-State Tuition)
[SOM - How do I Become a Resident of Michigan?](SOM - 404 - Page Not Found)

If in doubt, just contact the admissions/financial office.

You have to live there for one year before starting classes and your mom has to prove that she lives there.

Unless you move to Michigan, or take a gap year, it’s going to be quite difficult.
