In state tuition

I was recently accepted to Purdue University (Indiana) and my dad just said you're going to University of Missouri Rolla because we can't afford Purdue. I seriously doubt he looked into all options; he just filled out a FAFSA form and called it quits. I was wondering, since I'm out of state (Missouri) do I qualify for in state tuition after my first year at Purdue? I figured since you have to live in a new state for 1 year to gain residency, that would make me a resident? If this is possible then I think we may be able to afford it. This is important for me because I was accepted into Purdue's CME program (10-12 in nation) compared to Rolla's CME program (67'th..). Help me please.

Short answer: NO!

No you don't. However, some state universities will offer smallish scholarships to out-of-state residents that carry a waiver for OOS tution expenses. Check with Purdue admissions or website and see if that is the case - and then hope!
