In state tuition

@Madison85 He isn’t remarried but I believe he has a partner.

@twoinanddone If I waste my time trying to correct how the school district intentionally blocked me, I will have already counteracted myself, and be well over 18 by time its over. I spoke with representatives of several colleges and they told me that I would still need the ACT/SAT for enrollment, even if I’m in community college. I was told since I’d be just getting a transfer degree, they’d look at that in consideration to my qualifications rather than looking at what someone normally had done in high school. I don’t really appreciate the sense of condescension I receive from your posts, as I’m only asking for opinion and constructive knowledge. From my prospective it appears you, among others I have already dealt (i.e. school district administration staff), are under some impression that I simply don’t wish to attend school and expect things to be handed to me on some sort of fictional platter. It also appears that you think my situation is a much easier decision that it truly is, and that it’d be very easy to just move in with my father. I ask for opinion because this is an extremely difficult decision for me, and what I have been presented with (moving in with my father now) is NOT a feasible option. As I already stated, even if my father said yes, I do not have the financial means to get myself there in my current state, nor can somebody supplement that for me. I’ve already come to the consensus that I can not attend any UC school, or USC for that matter, so I’m not really sure where I’ll be attending now, if at all due to the fact I can not afford room and board, let alone tuition without financial aid, and there are no colleges in my current area that could fix that problem.

Thank you to everyone that actually assisted me in this problem, you do not need to reply to this post any longer.

Just trying to help, but you don’t want to or can’t moveto California nkw, before turning 18, so it is unlikely you will be able to get instate tuition in California at any time before you are an independent person and can move there, establish your own life and thus residency there. It normally takes over 2 years.

I can not move to California now. It is not an option. And if I attempted to go to california and do all of that via the high school I would have already been there 2 years, so in any way shape or form its one giant wash for me.

I don’t think Illinois is that generous with financial aid. Community college tuition would probably cost more than in CA and credits might not transfer the same. Since you are not in high school now, is there any way you could work and save the money to move to CA in the next few months? How much would a bus or plane ticket cost?

How were you going to pay for your GED and community college in IL?

Would your mom’s income qualify you for a Pell grant? That might pay for CC and if you have a university to commute to you could save your loans for the 3rd and 4th year at the university maybe.

The OP can’t move now. He is familiar with his situation, we are not. We have given him the information. He has a lot to figure out.

@mommdc I’ve been contemplating getting a job, because of this reason, however the job market around here is very slim, especially because of having no work experience. A bus or plane ticket would probably run around the same price I’d think, it’s not too expensive but I still don’t currently have it. The community college offers a program for free, to prepare and take the test for the GED. The only way I could attend community college is through financial aid.

I believe she would qualify for a Pell grant (I don’t know the exact figures but I’m fairly certain she would).
