In-State tuition?

First post for me. Sorta nervous
Anyway,
I'm from NJ but I live in GA now. I'd like to go back to NJ for college. My questions are, can I/do I have to apply for that state's residency since I was born there, and I have a parent (my dad. Parents divorced.) there? Will I be automatically considered a resident? What happens with me regarding tuition? I read that link on Finaid.com with all the different states and their residency requirements, but I'm still a little confused. Help? (:

Edit: The college I wanna go to is Montclair State University, if that info's needed. I looked on their site, but couldn't find any form to fill out on the matter.

Dad being there will do it.

Hey thanks. But uhh do what D:? Automatically/still make me a resident of NJ?

Applying: Residency

According to the link above, NJ residency would apply if your parent has lived in NJ for 2 years. It does NOT say that YOU are required to have lived in NJ.

Thanks much!

Most states define residency for students as having a parent as a resident of the state. Many kids who lived with one parents precollege, claim the residency of the other parent for college purposes. Most states make that very easy by making state residency requirements for college include that situation.
