In state UC chances?

End of the 1st semester and I just wanted to see how much I raised my chances since last time.

If someone could do me the honor of calculating my UC GPA, I'd appreciate it a lot!

Currently, here are my grades. I am an Chinese-American, Junior in N. California.

I am taking SATs in March, I am taking prep classes this month and PSATs projected me as 1850, but I expect to do much better. I have been in Student Government for 2 years, halfway through my third. Currently the Student Body Treasurer, and planning to run for Student Body President.

I am an officer in Key Club (public relations, I basically act as a representative from student government for clubs), Music Exchance Club, and Asian Club. I am currently in a process of completing a huge fundraiser for Invisible Children.

For community service, I tutor kids after school at our library (act as a official tutor), and have logged in around 100 hours.

Other loose facts: I played piano for 5 years, and now guitar for 3.

For future ECs I plan to take on, I hope to be accepted at Intel for their internship, and I plan to work at Mercy hospital.

If you could chance me on all UC schools, I'd greatly appreciate it. Definately accepting constructive criticism. Thanks a lot for taking your time to read my chances thread.

Good chance for UCD UCR UCM UCSC
ehhh for UCSB UCSD
No way for UCLA UCB

Calculate your UC GPA by taking out non academic classes, well just go to the pathways site for full instructions. You have a shot at the mid tier and lower UCs.

You took Algebra 2 twice?

Yeah, I did poorly in Precal the first semester, so I decided I would move back into Algebra two than fail another semester.

UCLA/UCB: far reach
UCSD: reach
UCSB/UCI/UCD: match / maybe a very slight reach
UCR/UCM/UCSC: safe match

Your UC GPA if you get the exact same grades second semester junior year as you did first semester would be 3.667, if the courses you list as honors are counted as such by the UCs (there is a website for this where you input your high school's name and it tells you if they accept them or not as honors).

Student government doesn't count as an academic subject, sports don't count and only the sophomore and junior years go into the computation.

Based upon a UC GPA of 3.667 and a SAT of 1850 with good ECs (including your student government work), I rate your chances as follows:

UCB/UCLA--Reach
UCSD--Reach
UCSB/UCD/UCI--Match to Slight Reach (Closer to Slight Reach--Best chance is at UCI)
UCSC--Match
UCR--Safe Match
UCM--Safety

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the calculation. I guess I'm going to have to do a little better this semester than I did the last to bump my UC GPA from 3.66 to at least 3.7 area.

Any last comments?

cliffdive:

UCB/UCLA: Super Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Slight Reach
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match
