hello I am an IS student from northern Virginia who really wants to go to UVA. What are my chances based on this information?
freshman year I got all A’s and 1 B+
sophomore year (which brought my GPA down a ton and was obviously NOT my year) I got 2 A’s, 1 B+, and 4 B’s (one was an AP course)
junior year so far I’m taking 5 AP classes and 2 regular classes and am working extremely hard to get all A’s
If I do get all A’s this year it would bring my GPA from a 3.75 to a 4.08. I have already taken the ACT and got a 33 and might take it again and try to get a 34/35. I will also be taking two SAT subject tests later this year (math 2 and either physics or us history).
As for EC’s I’ve been on 3 varsity sports for 3 years each, president of one of our schools clubs for 2 years, in NHS, and am in model UN.
Based off of this, and being from NOVA, would I have a chance of getting into UVA?
I also work year round 12-15 hours per week
What’s an IS student? Sorry if I should know.

According to the most recent Common Data I could find, for 2013-14, 90% of admitted students submitted the SAT and 37% of admitted students submitted ACT scores. IMO you still have a chance to take the SAT and you should. Your ACT score looks good though. I bet you’ll have a great SAT score. Good luck.
@OspreyCV22 my guess is in-state
Doh! Of course. There are too many acronyms in this world. I was thinking Information Systems but that’s not a UVA major. OP mentioned Northern VA so IS was redundant. There. I just used three acronyms of my own.
Yeah I thought the mention of IS and Northern VA was unnecessary as well. Anyways, to stay on topic I think OP has a good shot at being accepted as long as he/she keeps his/her GPA up
sorry ya i meant in state!
