Does Duke give any consideration if you are in state or not? And what kind/how much consideration?

In-state students do get a small advantage. I think it's is something like 15% percent of the admitted students must be from North Carolina. I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes in the whole scheme of things, but yes, they do consider it.

Sweetness.

Yeah, and also you are considered for a few scholarships for instaters only and things of that sort. I believe that 15% thing has something to do with the conditions the Duke family set out in order for Duke U. to receive the necessary funding at the beginning.

the acceptance rate for NC residents was like 35% in recent years. don't know what it was this year.

ah sweet!!! (again...this makes me happy, if you can't tell already i'm from NC :-))

oh really? i thought it was harder to get in from nc because there are soo many more people applying from nc. but then again, this is just something i heard at school and has no support whatsoever :)
