How many people here will actually be attending an in-state college, and perhaps bypassing their "dream" school?

I am.
But it turned out that I fell in love with my state school more than I ever was with my “dream school”.

Nope, if I lived in California I’d probably ONLY apply in-state though.

Roman: I feel the same way. I fell in love with JMU, one of the state schools in VA. The campus is beautiful, the food is good, the people are nice, the school is the perfect size, and I heard that the professors always have their doors open.

Haha, I live in CA so I’ll be applying to UCs:) However, I’m definitely applying to some private schools as well.

i used to really think uchicago was like the ULTIMATE college to end all colleges but now i just want to attend UF. i can get good scholarships for ib, bright futures money, be in marching band (drumline!) and also my boyfriend and i love gainesville. it has a killer music scene and so many of our friends live there.

Outside of MDI, Maine is so bland that I will go insane if I don’t leave

Although I haven’t found my “dream school”, I’ll most likely end up at a state school because of money reasons.

It seems that everyone I know who went to MSU loves it. In fact, at the risk of being ostracized by many who can’t possibly bear this thought, I would say it’s much more lovable than U of M, based on my observations.

^ That’s because a lot of us pick MSU for something more than the name. I got into U of M and ended up going to MSU because it was the one I fell in love with. I know quite a few people who did the same thing I did, and you really must love MSU if you are going to pick it over U of M because UMich has the “better” reputation. Generally, those who pick MSU are going after the school, not the name, and those who pick U of M (at least a lot of them, obviously not all by any stretch of the imagination) are just going after the name and not the school.

I don’t want to leave California, I don’t have a “dream” school, and both my top schools are in Cali so I’m set.
