I think one of my main hooks that I want to expand upon in my essay is how I was diagnosed with a severe primary spina biffida with complications after removal of a tumor in my spinal cord that I have been forced to deal with my entire life. After almost a dozen surgeries to make sure that I haven’t had a regrowth of the tumor I really have an almost intimate connection with medicine and I have been able to grow through that and do better than I thought I would have been able.

I actually am getting an article on my experiences published in the National Journal of Nephrology, which I’m not sure how good that is.

That seems really solid. There’s nothing about your resume that would hurt you. Also, as you’re from Kentucky, they’ll be more interested in you because they don’t get many great applicants from states like that. Great ACT, by the way.

You’re definitely in the range. Obviously there are no guarantees in this process but if you play your essays the right way, you should have a pretty solid shot of getting in.
