In the South

royrules22: Those things won us the war. I agree with all of them. Japan and Germany declared WAR on the United States. The Confederacy did not declare war on the U.S., they actually sent ambassadors to negotiate peace with Lincoln. He refused them and launched a war.

Lousy Yankees!! What was so wrong with Southern independence? (other than slavery of course) The US failed to stand by the precidents set fourth in the Constitution, so the South no longer had to be bound to the Union that was attacking its foundations. If they would have just kept that dang capital in Montgomery we would be flying those "stars and bars" with pride, singing our national anthem, Dixie.

"Hoorah, hoorah, for Southern rights' hoorah!!! Hoorah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears the single star!!! " > I love that song

Why do I have a feeling johnnyreb is not a real poster but JamesN come back to make Southerners look bad?

well actually, WE declared war on Japan. they attacked us without declaring war, those dumb bastards.

Praise Jesus, JohnnyReb. It is nice to have a fellow southerner to laud the efforts of the south. Y'all need to GIT R' DONE!
I can't stand when someone says,"OMG, Abe Lincoln was like so great. He is like a God." No, I loathe Lincoln; he wished to wage war on us simple folk.
No on answered my question: who is better Jackson or JEB Stuart?

Justinian: No praisingfor a northerner who lauds the efforts of the South, huh? :P

No idea who JEB Stuart is. I like Jackson though.

Shadix, I understand what you say about the "dellusional view" of the South. I live in ATL, and it's nothing like it was in the antebellum era. It's really urban now.

I also hate when people have a dellusional view of Europe... a "utopian, Socialist paradise where everything is advanced and wonderful." ********! Nice culture and all, but hardly utopian. Bad economy, advancement isn't all that much anymore, and people are afraid to buy new gadgets, so I don't think they have "the newest things" like everyone believes.

Oh, don't even get me started on those people who believe Japan is the richest and most technologically advanced country in the world... I just feel like slapping teachers here when I hear that! More educated than us, yes. Richer, no.

Pretty much sums it up. Sweden used to be in top 5 economically pre 70s, when they were still capitalist. Now they are not even top 10. The EU jokers should learn from Ireland.

Don't forget that Europe is ahead of us educationally. US kids start out in the lead, but somewhere in late elementary school, other countries leave us in the dust. Der Spiegel ranked countries based on education, and the US was 20-something. Even Canada was ahead of us. After college, it's more even, but they go into college much more prepared, IMO.

So was Slovakia and Poland, as well as South Korea, and many other countries that spend much less per student than US. You have John Dewey and his minions to thank for this. Also, forced mandatory brainwashing...uh, education, and zoned school disctricts contribute too. I honestly don't think college changes things that radically. Garbage education till you're 18 leaves a mark on you no matter what.

warblersrule, I didn't deny that. In fact, I said "more educated than us, yes", LOL. Though, we still churn out a higher percentage of high school and college graduates than any other country (now, as for the HS diploma being as good...).

Yeah, that spending thing es me off. We pay MORE than any country in the world on education (per capita and in total) yet we have less than #1 results. It's not the whole being lower than other countries thing that *es me off (we can't be #1 in everything, and we're not at the very bottom like people like to say), it's paying more and getting worse results. It's like going to a restaurant, paying $10 dollars, and getting a ***ty burger while that other guy is paying $5 and getting a steak. BLAH! Okay, bad comparison, but you know what I mean!

In the governments eyes, students who attend public schools are nothing more than lab rats being tested with certain "new" methods. As Wicked said, John Dewey and his friends poisoned these US schools to the point of incapability.
Perhaps we should return to the fundamentals of phonics, arithmetic(not new math), and writing in the elementary years. Seems pretty "elementary" to me.

I read an article once that said that the average fifth grader in the US is unable to point out America on a map. But as Dewey said, we are nothing more than animals who must explore our feelings in the classroom. How does that make you feel? Lets express ourselves everyone( I am being sarcastic)

Sorry, running, I didn't see that part of your post.

I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
to live and die in Dixie.
Away, away, away down south in Dixie.
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

:p

what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn by third grade i was already memorizing states and capitols by looking at a map.

i blame it on the cartoons these kids are watching, they are garbage compared to the awesome stuff that was on back when I was in elementary school.

Pre-revisionist, Pre-Reconstruction, Post-Redemption Rebel Pride!!!

I not trying to make the South look bad. No. I am just sick of all these carpet baggers trying to suppress my pride in beging part of the greatest and richest culture. If you don't agree with my manner in presenting this pride, what can I say?

GIT R' DONE friends!

^Hey, you stole my punchline! GIT R' DONE!!!!!

i just looked at the stats of the war.

despite less resources, soldiers, railroads, industry, and basically everything else, the south OWNED the north in the war.

man for man, i think the southern army was the best army america ever put together.

packerfan22, can you show how you arrived to this conclusion. If you are going to say a statement like that, you have to have some facts behind it and not an opinion. Remember history? Well, if the South "owned the North" and "was the best army america ever put together," why'd it lose?

I wouldn't have thought that what you said is lie, if it was supported. It could have been true, but with history, if you have no conclusive evidence, than I cannot but think you are wrong. You wrote a powerful statement but it was only supported by gross generalizations and opinioin, such as "...the southern army was the best army america ever put together."
