To avoid the frenzy I was thinking I'd order a few books online from the co-op, plus today's the last day of priority and the last day of tax free weekend. I know that ordering english books (not textbooks, the novels) is a good idea and a friend told me that all the science classes usually require a textbook. Besides these classes I have a communications, journalism, and asian studies class. If anyone knows classes where you usually wind up having to buy the textbook please list them, or if you know classes where you usually don't need them please list those as well. Thanks.

CMS 306M needs it.

Language classes - I’d recommend buying the books.
English - I’d check to see if you can find it online or at the UT library before you buy it, especially if its like a classic. But otherwise I’d buy them.

I had a film class and we were supposed to buy a book but we never used it.
I had an arch history class and we didn’t need the book and the course packet - everything was from lecture.
My best friend was in bio and her book still has the shrink wrap on it. Not sure why and not sure which bio class. xD

I took bio for non science majors (The Human Body) and we didn’t use a book. Took another science (for science majors) over the summer and we didn’t use a book even though he listed one. Told us the first day of class it was a waste of money.

The only books out of the million I need that I bought so far are books for my language classes (dictionaries and whatnot) and one english book that I couldn’t find at any library and was cheaper at the co-op than online. I’m holding off on the other ones until classes start.

would it be good idea to buy all the books, and then if I find that I don’t need them, just not pick up the package by Aug 31st? I know you have to pay a $10 restocking fee but I don’t mind that.

Does the tax-free break count towards college textbooks? And what happens if we purchase textbooks after the priority deadline of August 23rd?

Can you go into the bookstore tomorrow to buy the books you need and take them with you that time, or do you have to place an order and go back to get them later?
