I'm applying to a bunch of schools with the Common App and a few other school that don't take the CA. This morning I sent all of my SAT and ACT scores to the schools to which I'm applying; the scores are the first things they will receive from me because I'm not ready to submit the Common App. I want to give out teacher rec forms now too, but would it be bad if the school got the teacher recs before they got my official application??

whoops, formS

They will start a file for you. Just make sure everything sent to them has the exact same name and SSN.

No, it's fine. We asked our GC about that last yesr. She said most schools will start a file(soft or hard copy) for you as soon as they get any information about you. Many schools offer status of your appliction online.

So should you put your SSN on everything? What about on teacher recs?...I'm not sure I want to freely distribute 40+ envelopes with my SSN on them, do I??

^^ i second commdore's 2nd question :D

Our daughter's school sent everything from the school in one packet. I did see a copy of one teacher rec and there was no SSN on it. But daughter did put it on all communications she had with Admission Offices.

D's teachers didn't put her SSN on the forms or letters. As long as it lists your name, your school and your address, it's fine - they just have to be able to identify you and differentiate you from anyone with the same or similar name.

Also.....big manila folders, or just plain little envelopes? I know some schools don't want anything to be folded.
