In what situations can you be exempted from finals?

if you have over 100% in an honors or AP math class, but none of the other departments do it

At ours, you can exempt one final per semester, and only if you have an 80%+ in that class and <=2 excused absences.

What's the catch?

You aren't allowed to exempt the final of an AP class under any circumstances. Even if you take the AP test.

This semester my options for exemption are Health and Orchestra. Like those are worth exempting.

Most seniors don't have to unless they are in nonsenior classes or are on the borderline of failing. (2nd semester only).

A few classes if you have an 90 or 93%+ you don't have to take finals.

Most AP classes don't make you take a 2nd semester final.

Wow, we don't ever get exempted from finals.

Ninth grade year, my teacher did this thing where if you had an A in the class you didn't have to do the Practical Lab part of the final, but that's about it.

At my school seniors are exempt with an A average in a class, and in MOST IB/AP classes we don't have a serious final, but unfortunately in spanish we do :(

I never knew I was so lucky, @ my school

AP class= exemption
B or better average plus less than 18 absences= exemption
seniors with B or better average= automatic exemption

Ahhh. I'm green with envy. No exemptions at all. Another reason to hate my school.

^What a grade attitude to have toward the institution that is increasing your knowledge and preparing you for your life.

High school exams really aren't a big deal, so it's totally fine with me. I studied maybe a total of 2 hours for all 8 exams, and I've gotten A's on 6 of them for sure. Two of them haven't yet been graded. It's just a couple days without homework, and I think it's a good time to catch up with life (sleep, pleasure, etc.).

-We can get exempt from finals if we have an 89.5 in the class or higher.
-Everyone has to take midterms though, unless they're semester courses. Then the above rule applies.

Seniors can be exempted from Finals if they have an A for the second semester and have less than five absences (excused or unexcused incl college visits.) AP classes, of course, are exempt from the exemption! Also, the class has to be a year-long course SO... with all the half-year courses they set seniors up with combined with the APs (and usually an open period) it's not worth the effort for the one viable class we will get an A in. Oh, and half the new teachers haven't heard of this policy so it's seemingly up to each department head.
And we came into the year thinking if we just got an A there were non strings attached! Cheap trick!*

*mini rant end
