Did you apply EA?

yes, I applied early action with the personal app.

Then they should let you know in 2 weeks at the latest. They promise Dec. 15, right?

If you don’t have your Gibson PIN and password, just go to the Gibson page, click on the “Forgot Password” link, and enter your email. If they have your login information, they will send your information to you, if I recall correctly

Diomedes is correct - make sure to use the same email you used when filling out the application. If that doesn’t work, call / email the admissions office.

My guidance counselor sent my transcript Last Monday (Over a week ago, from Connecticut) and it still says that it is missing on my Gibson account. Should I contact the office to see if I should send it again, or wait a bit longer?

Wait. I had the same problem with my transcript, turns out it can take 3 weeks for them to process the “received” application. They need to print and file every transcript.

^ Oh okay, that’s good to know. Thanks!

I just got accepted today…

and it has been one month I think…

I got notified today! Accepted :)

I sent in my early app the day after it was due LOL. I sent my transcripts two days after it was due. I got in yesterday.

I didn’t even know my Gibson I.D. until yesterday. I called around noon (I was sick, so home from school). Got the ID number and logged in. It said my application was complete. I refreshed the page about an hour later and it changed the status to admitted. I thought it was funny. I never even got an email telling me to check or anything.

All my stuff got there probably on the 20th or so and I got my decision yesterday. I was deferred.

How long after you were accepted did you receive the package in the mail? Does it include scholarship/FA info?

It takes 1-2 weeks to get your letter usually. It contains merit scholarship information, but not the FA package. Those don’t come out until March.

what is it with these schools and not letting us know if we get any scholarships until march? it’s really annoying…

musicbiochem - You are confusing merit scholarships with financial aid, perhaps. Tulane tells you merit scholarship, if you get one at all, when you are accepted. Now that might not be until March if you are RD, but many already know. For FA it is indeed quite standard to wait until March unless you have been accepted at an ED school. The normal cycle is that you get all your acceptances and FA info by April 1, then you have until May 1 to decide.

Don’t be too annoyed, lol. This really is the traditional timing. People get a little “spoiled” (I mean that nicely) by having these early acceptances. However, FA is a budget item for every school and they have to wait and see the total picture to know how much they have to spread it all out. Merit scholarships are a bit different, although they have to stay within a budget on those too, I guess. I suppose one difference is that merit scholarships are essentially a “discount”, they are not taking $$ out of their account and physically giving them to you. With some of the FA, at least, that really is money out of their pocket, I guess. I am not so knowledgeable on that part, but I do know the timing I outlined is the normal route. Deep breaths.

I recently got deferred from Tulane. It is one of my top choice schools so I was really bummed. Is there anything I can do to help my chances for RD?

Oh ok I see, I was annoyed there for a second because I wont know if I receive any scholarships from Bard college until march (I applied through the Immediate Decision Plan that they have and was accepted) so yeah =P. I am supposed to hear next week from Tulane though! fingers crossed and thank you very much as always for the informative responses =)

boredfun - Sure. Hopefully your first semester senior year is going well as far as grades. If so, then once you know them have them sent to Tulane right away and then contact your admissions counselor. Tell them that Tulane is your top choice (if it is), or in the top 3 (you should be honest about which is true. These people know there are other choices and that you might be trying to decide between 2 or 3 schools as your top choices) and why you think you want to go there. Have a conversation, ask questions. But in the end, if in February you still want Tulane a lot, then get that across to them. Other than that, there isn’t much more you can do unless your family has the kind of money to get the new dorm named after them, lol.
