In your opinion, what type of people should not go to college?

^Ouch .

And some people might be cut to study at universities but given their interests they would be better off going to a community college. Just because a person goes to a community college doesn't mean they don't have what it takes to handle a college courseload. I am an example. I breezed through college, graduated with honors, and today I feel like I would have been better served at a 2 year community college.

Going to college, in my case, was more a matter of prestige than anything else. But with people like you, who assume that people who go to community colleges are inferior to people who go to universities ("not all people are cut for studying at universities", "being professional at the basic needs that people need") I don't completely regret my decision to go to college, even if my investment didn't pay off.

People who major in something like social work. Not that it's bad, but they don't need a college degree to do something like that.

"Not that it's bad, but they don't need a college degree to do something like that."

And you know this because .....

The point of college isn't entirely to get a good job, earn lots of $, yadda yadda. Now that almost everyone is able to go to college (in this country anyway), people forget that it's a priviledge. There is no better time in your life to gain as much knowledge as possible. Knowing more things lets you see the world in a different light. If you know any uneducated people, try talking to them - 9.9 out of 10 would tell you they would be more satisfied as a person if only they had more knowledge. Sure, a hairdresser doesn't need to know about the bolshevik revolution or how to do calculus, but having some knowledge of this kind of stuff would somehow enrich the way they view things. Heck, if I won the lottery, or if Bill Gates adopted me I would still go to college!

So my conclusion...EVERYONE should go to college!!! (if they want to)
I think if money isn't a factor most people would choose to go to college, even if they want to be firemen when they grow up.

I see multiple reasons for going to college:

If you're interested in a trade or profession that requires it.

If you have a natural desire to learn.

If you want to grow in an area and don't have other means to do it.

As far as being financially successful goes, I see it as having motivation, desire, drive, the commitment to fix character flaws and a little luck. This can be accomplished with or without a college degree.

"People who major in something like social work. Not that it's bad, but they don't need a college degree to do something like that."
Yes, you can help social conditions without a degree, but if you want to be a social worker you need a license, and many jobs require a masters degree. You think you work for the DSS officer without a college degree?
