What should my other two SAT IIs be? I plan on being a a biology major and have already taken the Bio-E and am very happy with that score. However, I think I'm doing ED and probably need 2 more subject test so which two would you recommend?
-Literature (some English interests in my ECs)
-Math I (Or II? I've to yet take Pre-Calc/Calc)
-U.S. History (Took APUSH)
or possibly Chem (Just took the class past year)?
Thanks (:

I’d definitely go with US History, and you will have to do a Math, but I’m not sure with I or II. Ivies require II most of the time, but it’s better to get 700+ on I than 600-650 on II.

Consider Chemistry closely as well since you are going to be majoring in bio.

Ah okay, thanks a ton to the both of you. I don’t think I’m applying for any Ivies, but I’m going for top-tier LACs, and don’t most colleges want the “well-rounded” list, especially given the short amount of time I have? Two more questions: Would you say the collegeboard practice questions are accurate representations of the ease of the SAT II test and would you recommend taking 3 SAT IIs in one day?

I can only speak for Physics questions since that is the only test I have taken thus far. The questions on the CB website are probably questions that at some point were used in a real test. They closely mimic the level of those that I saw on the test. I imagine that other subjects follow the same pattern. As to taking 3 tests, its certainly possible although I am not planning on doing it. I will take Math II and USH on same day this October. good luck

I recommend doing math 1 and USH

Yeah, those sound like the best choices. Thank you!

This is simply not true. There’s not a single Ivy that requires you to take the SAT Math 2 Subject Test. Here’s what’s required:

Brown: any 2
Columbia: any 2 for the College; for SEAS, any Math plus Chemistry or Phusics
Cornell: any 2 for CAS; Engineering and soem other schools require 1 Math, any level
Dartmouth: any 2
Harvard: any 3
Penn: any 2, but applicants to Engibeering and Wharton are “encouraged” to take Math, any level
Princeton: any 2; applicants seeking BSE must take Math, any level
Yale: any 2

Now some applicants may feel their application is stronger if they submit a Math 2 score, especially if they’re going into math, science, engineering, economics, or some other quantitative field. But the schools don’t require it, and plenty of people are admitted to Ivies without submitting a Math 2 score.

your an idiot

Since you two must be geniuses, I’m going to quote you on this one:

“Some applicants may feel their application is stronger if they submit a Math 2 score, ESPECIALLY IF THEY’RE GOING INTO MATH, SCIENCE…”

The original poster plans to go into biology. Therefore, I recommended that she take an SAT II Math to make her a stronger applicant because she asked what one would RECOMMEND, not what the schools REQUIRE.

So sure, I may have misquoted when I said they REQUIRE SAT II Math tests, but I defend my case in saying that it would be better for her. I would also go as far as to say that indie500 is the real idiot since he cannot form a cohesive sentence, or sentence fragment for that matter, without making a grammatical mistake.

That is all.
