In your opinion?

My friend asked this question as well:

In your opinion, which is better? UF or UM? I want to major in economics.

UF has great connections, a great reputation, and far more successful alumni. The "Gator Nation" and the sports are unparalleled. But classes are huge and there are just so many students, it's impersonal and I could see myself not liking it.

UM is higher ranked than UF now (How legit are rankings?) and has a smaller population. I like the idea of a small private school, but I am concerned that the connections etc. at UM are not as good as at UF as far as opportunities. This is completely an opinion, I know, but I just want to know your two cents.

Plus, with the current trend, will UF fall even more and UM up more? UM could rise and eventually become amazing.

Also, at UF, when do the classes start getting smaller?

And at UM, how successful are alumni in grad school admission and career placement vs UF (as in top ranked programs and such)?

Thanks.

I don’t go to UF, so I would have no idea, but I do know that UM is very expensive. UF is a good school, and I believe it will continue to remain in the same academic ranking bracket that it’s in now.
Classes in all universities begin to get smaller once you get into the upper-division classes, which are generally taken around 3rd year.

Hope I could help.
