I just got a called from the financial aid office telling me they were preparing a package for me, and needed some help deciphering my parents' pakistani income tax returns. If they're preparing a package does that rubs hands and twiches nose mean my names in the accepted pile?

it makes sense... why would they be preparing a financial aid package for someone who is rejected?

but seriously, now you have me waiting for a phone call along with the email. thanks. gah!

well i asked the dude, he said decisions are coming out in a 'couple of weeks'. meh

financial aid decisions or admissions decisions?

i really highly doubt that EA decisions won't be out before christmas...

highly doubt.

and really hope.

sounds like you're getting some weird info.

hmm it sounded like it was an offhand remark to be honest. But i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Chicago is need blind, so they may prepare financial aid decisions completely seperatly from admissions decisions. However, you better hope that both are tied and that this means you got in.

they are need blind, yes. however, it would be stupid to prepare financial aid dicisions for every appilcant, when you only need to prepare them for about 40%. admissions admits kids need blind, and then financial aid does their thing. or so it seems most logical. i'd think you're in, but i'm hesitant to tell you that now, because a deferral or rejection would kill you.

but seriously, would they spend the time? seems doubtful...

no i don't think so cause i got an email saying that i need to submit extra from financial aid office (today).. so i called them and they said that it has nothing to do with the admission to UofC

This is for JHU but applies to most, if not all, need-blind colleges.
quote=AdmissionsDaniel All Admissions materials go to the Admissions office and are reviewed by the Admissions counselors/committee and they decide Admissions decisions.

(2) All Financial Aid materials go to the Financial Aid office and are processed by the Financial Aid staff. Processed does not mean a financial aid package is created, it just means all the financial aid documentation is stored.

(3) Once Admissions makes their admit decisions (with no sense of a student's financial need) we report to the Financial Aid office those students we have selected for admission.

(4) Financial aid then create financial aid packages for those students selected to be admits and who applied for aid.

(5) Admissions decision letters are run -- financial aid decisions and packages are run ... and both are stuffed in the admit packets.
