Let me preface this by saying, NO this is not a joke -
Basically, I have uploaded an album to soundcloud, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea or not to put a link to it in the additional information section of the Common App, as a pose to submitting an art supplement, which I do not plan on doing. Thanks for your feedback!
How would the mixtape add anything to your application? What kind of skills does it showcase? The traditional art supplement is supposed to show work and talent, not something that anyone can do with a computer. Unless I’m thinking about the wrong thing.
I know it’s not a joke, but I had flashbacks to the Harvard rejection letter discussing the “fire” mixtape, haha.
I don’t know if it’d be a good idea; art supplements are usually reserved for portfolios in classical/visual arts. Do you intend to pursue a music-related career? If the answer is anything but yes, I wouldn’t recommend submitting it; even if it were yes, it may give across the wrong idea that you’re treating their application like a joke, no matter what you intend.
Is this mixtape, like a rapper mixtape showcasing a musical talent either vocally or lyrically. Or is it just taking some preexisting songs and putting it on mixtape.
