Include my GPA on my resume?

College is wrapping up with only one more semester standing between me and my undergraduate degree (May 2018). My first 1 1/2 years were a bit rocky with a personal hardship taking me away from my studies and my GPA suffered tremendously because of it.

Now as I begin searching for jobs in my career field I’m wondering if including my GPA on my resume will hurt me. I’m currently at a 3.048 up from the 2.3 I sat at following the end of fall semester sophomore year. While this will make for a great comeback story some day I’m sure, I’m not sure that its worthy of including on my resume to employers.

Knowing that there was a ceiling on my GPA’s recovery I looked to gain some practical experience to help boost my resume. I’ve had one small internships that I stayed in for a year’s time, one major summer internship, and currently a mid-major internship. Do you think that having career-related internships could help overcome a low grade point average?

Thanks for your help!

http://www.collegiategateway.com/college-grades-and-employers-what-matters-to-whom/ suggests that many employers screen applicants by GPA, and most commonly use a cut-off GPA of 3.0. Since your GPA is (barely) higher than 3.0, it is probably advantageous for most such employers (who may be more prone to discarding a resume with no GPA on the assumption that it is bad if not listed), but disadvantageous for the 20% or so that specify a cut-off GPA higher than 3.0.

I would just leave out the GPA. Unless it’s a 3.5+, I would personally leave it out. Depends on your major and school though, because some are known for being significantly more difficult.
