I am filling out the common app additional information part. I won the country and placed 3rd at State for Science Fair in 2006, during 8th grade. My high school years are 2006-2010, so it wasn't that far back. Should I still include it?

That might be something to mention in your essay…like how you learned this or that from the experience. But colleges really don’t need stuff from middle school, just b/c they probably already have enough info.

Unless you won a national/international contest when you were in middle school, was a famous (meaning, well known and/or won a prestigious award in acting) actor/ress or disproved the Big Bang Theory when you were in middle school, it does not count. Guaranteed nothing “big” or on a national/international level might’ve happened when you were in middle school or younger or even that you had a drastic life changing experience while you were learning about linear equations, then NO, stick to your post-tween years.

and p.s how sophisticated can 8th grade science projects get compared to high school research initiatives dealing with stem cells at university laboratories?

but then again, you might have had family issues that arose when you were younger that didnt resolve themselves while in your high school years that may have resulted in lower grades, relocation to different cities/states/countries while in high school. In this case, let your guidance counselor know
