Do I have to include remedial courses in the UC TAG/TAP self-reporting coursework part??

I failed Philosophy twice, but I took it again and got an A. It only let's me choose 1 F as retaken, the other one remains as an F and makes my calculated GPA low.

What should I do???

I had all my classes and units and GPA all calculated by a UC Counselor, and right now I have 44 units, with a 3.55 GPA.

But on the UC TAP/TAG application from all the coursework I've entered in my GPA comes out to 3.14

Yes, include all classes taken. There’s going to be an option to add classes on the TAG.

I think you’ll be fine. I’m sure they’re not going to count that class twice.

Assist GPA is what they look at, not the other GPA. The Assist GPA includes the UC-transferable courses which is really all the UC’s care about when transferring.

Assist Gpa is the classes on assist.org right?? So it doesn’t include eng writing and ge’s ?or is it all the uc transferable classes such as art?

Assist GPA includes ALL UC-transferable courses. If your GE’s and English courses are UC-transferable (i.e English 1A) they will all go towards that UC GPA. Every course that you have listed on the Transfer Admission Planner will be counted into the Overall GPA, but the ones that UC’s care about are the UC-transferable ones that will go into the Assist GPA. Hope this makes sense!

Yes, you would be admitted for UC TAG. The 3.72 is the **only **GPA they look at when making the TAG decisions. Not sure what/how your counselor got those figures, maybe you hadn’t transferred all your work to that college and he/she was unaware of some units from elsewhere? AP scores? Whatever it was, if you have entered your information correctly on Assist, you are in good shape for TAG with the 3.72 GPA.

Just because a course is not Assist certified doesn’t automatically mean that it isn’t UC transferable. Depending on where the course was taken, or maybe how long ago the course was taken it may be UC transferable, but not listed in Assist. The GPA they use may end up being a little different than your Assist certified GPA. You should definitely give the school call and ask the question.

I would call them back and tell them that you’ve entered all your coursework correctly into the Transfer Admission Planner website and your Assist GPA comes out to 3.72. They aren’t really the ones that see what you’ve entered, nor can they until you’ve sent the application in. Maybe try a CC counselor to see what they’ll say? As far as what I’m seeing though, if like I said, you entered everything correctly, you’re good to go for UCSB tag.

Hi, OK now I have a question. My daughter just submitter her TAG for UCSB also, she took two classes at CSUDH while in high school, and then went to one semester @ SFSU prior to SBCC.

So are you saying that for TAG admission UCSB only looks at the Assist Certified GPA 3.48 for TAG purposes even though the others courses are GE courses (used for IGETC) that she was told would transfer?

In either case, is her GPA sufficient to meet the TAG admission criteria?

Just got an email from my UCSB counselor this morning, she says everything I entered in was correct and that I’m good to go !!!

But a quick question for you old timers, for those who have already done TAG and what not, when exactly do we get our results? And do we have to re-enter all our coursework when applying for other UC campuses?

Also, I understand that we have to enter in Fall 2013 grades once the semester ends.

You will find out by early-mid November. Each UC has a different release dates for the results. In this year’s UC app, apparently they have made it easy for students by allowing the export of the coursework entered from the UC TAG app. Not sure how this works, but it’s supposed to be something just recently implemented.
