Okay so the title has nothing to do with this but..

I'm a junior trying to decide whether to ED/apply to Stern or CAS. If things went my way I'd opt for Stern no matter what, but I really would rather be in CAS then not be in NYU at all.

Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.9 w/ 3.4(?) uw
Ranking: about 10%, not really sure since school doesnt rank
Female; Asian NJ

SAT: 800 CR, 740 M, 700 Writing (11 essay)
SATII: 800 Math IIC, 800 Chinese, 660 Chem (taking Lit French and US Hist later)
Freshman and Sophomore Yr--all honors
Junior Yr--AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP English Language, AP French, Physics H
Prospective Sr Yr Schedule: AP Macro, AP Stat, AP English Lit, AP Bio, AP US Pol and Gov

ECs: Section Editor for school newspaper, GA/exec board for MUN, FHS, NHS, NAHS, Mock Trial
Awards: Scholastic Writing Award: Regional--Silver Key, Township Young Musicians 2nd place 3 years in a row, one winner of Andrew DeGrado Piano Competition, Rutgers Model Congress--Outstanding Delegate in Advanced Committee, Rutgers Model UN--Best Position Paper, Outstanding Delegate
Volunteering: Feed the Children, Habitat for Humanity, UNICEF, flute choir performances for nearby nursing homes, assistant Sunday School teacher

So...Stern or CAS? ED or RD? NYU or look elsewhere?

stern...ed only if you can afford it...

I think you have a decent chance RD. You're not guaranteed, but what's life without a little bit of risk? Then you can ED to a school that you would have no chance of getting into unless you ED'ed.

3.4 uw is good enough for stern?

ur SAT + EC looks pretty good for Stern.. but yeah ur GPA is kinda below the average for Stern.

I strongly recommend that you ED Stern because that can increase your chance quite significantly. Judging from the record number of expected applicants next year, applying RD might hurt yout chance of admission.

while the GPA is on the low side, I think that it is countered by the rigorous courseload (from your description it appears you've never taken a non honors or AP class). I think you have a decent shot RD and an excellent shot ED. (Only decent for RD because next year is supposedly the most competitive).
