Incoming Cal Students Thread

I turned in a few transcripts a week ago, and those have not been sorted or updated. However, the one I turned in yesterday, is already on myberkeleyapp. The admissions officers really do have a big pile, and I am sure they will update myberkeleyapp as soon as they receive and look over each individual transcript/score.

So the one you turned in yourself was shown like the next day? Dang, then I’ll probably just hand it in later this week rather then trust the mail.

For the AP scores, if you didn’t put it in your application, is it required to be sent in? I took the classes for it in college so I was like ehh about posting it up.

Just be sure to meet with your admissions officer one on one.

I’m thinking about canceling my CalSo appointment tomorrow. I know I won’t get a full refund, but I have things to do and don’t think it’s really necessary for me.

Living in Berkeley makes it a lot easier for me:

1) I already made my Cal 1 Card last month.

2) I already met with a major adviser for my department, and already got an adviser code a couple weeks ago, which means:

3) I already registered for my Phase 1 courses a couple of weeks ago.

I have not yet turned in my form to declare a major, but I could do that anytime now (dropping it off at the Psych Dept., since I’m finishing my last prereq at Cal this Summer.)

The only thing I was pondering was to double major, but I don’t have all the prerequisites for the other major, so I could just do it sometime within the school year.

Considering that I live a 5 minute walk away from campus, it’s totally fine to skip Calso… you guys think? I really don’t wanna go.

^you have basically already done everything you would do at Calso…why bother…Calso is super boring… and i mean super boring.

does anybody know if its possible to retake the picture for our Cal 1 card?..I had a hat on all day and then, boom! Picture time. Not happy at all.

yeah true…I was just thinking about double majoring in anth and psych…but w/e

and NO YOU CANNOT TAKE YOUR PIC OVER!! lol I tried doing that…even you you LOST your card…you can’t reatke your pic ahahah

How evil with the laugh UCBlove

I re-took my Cal 1 Card photo 7 TIMES!!! I had a bad hair day, and the asian guy was really patient with me. LOL

UCBlove, I would go ahead and cancel CalSo tomorrow only if you will receive a partial refund or more. The only thing it may be worth going for is to socialize with other individuals who transferred in, or plan on declaring the same major as you. I am going specifically for my Advisor code and then I am leaving. I’m at Berkeley every other day, so I am fairly familiar with everything.

Is it normal for Cal to send out verification forms for financial aid? Iono what I did wrong but apparently I need to send in my parents’ forms?

This thread has officially become the place where I voice my worries. August best get here fast.

When and where can you find your Advisor Code on calso.berkeley.edu?

niners…no worries… it is normal to go through the verification process…they do it often for independent students & randomly for dependent students… I had to give them all that information when I first got here & now, over 2 years later I have to do it all over again…I would get that in asap though because they process them by time received & they are still on forms received in May. They haven’t even started on June’s yet, so in order to get your F/A award on time, you will need to get those in soon.

So it looks like me and a couple people are going to go up to Cal to check it out tmo. I kinda want to get my Cal Id taken, do we only need our ID off the myBerkApp page?

Going to be interesting…

You need to bring your student ID and some kind of identification like driver’s license.

Thomas, if you haven’t already figured it out, you click on “I’m ready to log in” at the bottom, enter your info, and a button that says, “May I have my advisor code?” or something will pop up. Click it, and the number you type in for TeleBears should be right there.

Also, I got an email asking me to confirm my interest in Channing Bowditch by today so that Cal can get housing offers out by next week. Thought you would be interested that they’re coming soon; my guess is NEXT Thursday.

Does anyone know if you can turn in your transcripts at CalSO? I am going to the one here in So Cal tomorrow and I don’t know if I should hand them to someone there or just mail them off today.

Just a small update on my side, so myberkeleyapp is finally showing my High school transcript as recieved - final. Point in case = if it doesnt state “Recieved” after 3-4 weeks of waiting, don’t worry… it’ll change eventually, lol.

I’m super excited for Housing to come out! Anyone here thinking about rushing btw?

According to the housing options presentation that I saw at CalSo on Wed: Housing offers will be out on Tuesday. Who says CalSo’s not worth anything??? In cas anyone cares, I’ll be posting a more complete report on my CalSo soon…

I went to the So Cal CalSO event today at El Camino College. It was a complete waste of my time. We had to sit through presentation after presentation and everything they told us we had already found online. They made us wait until the very end of the day to register. When I went to register for my classes, I could only get into ONE class and it wasn’t even within my major. Why? Because transfer students always get the shaft AND I am beginning to realize that my major is a complete joke. I am wondering if I made a mistake. I probably should have SIR’d with UCSD.

Sorry sunshine but i was wondering what major you were and why you think you should have gone to UCSD?
