Incoming Freshman.. afraid of Vomit...

Firstly, I am not trolling, I swear. This sounds weird but it's 100% true and you can look up the disorder online and see how real it really is.

I'm emotophobic, which means I'm chronically terrified of vomit. I'm not afraid of vomiting myself or my own vomit, but only the vomit of others.
If anyone states that they feel sick to their stomach, my blood pressure begins rising and I begin going into panic because there is just a tiny chance that they may vomit.

If someone does begin to vomit or actually is vomiting when I am present, my heart begins to race, I become dizzy, I get extremely disturbed and I sweat uncontrollably and begin feeling extremely uncomfortable. Then I can't focus on anything other than the incident for a long time, sometimes weeks. All I want to do is get up and run. And if someone vomits in a specific location and I'm not present, I cannot comfortably go to that location for weeks if not months after without feeling uneasy, even if it's cleaned up.

I know that IU is a huge party school and I know that drunk people tend to vomit. I read all these posts on CC about kids vomiting in the hallways and bathrooms, vomit on the sidewalks on sunday mornings, and vomit just being everywhere on college campuses.. and if this is the case at IU I do not know if I will be able to handle going to school here.

Could someone tell me how much "public vomiting" tends to occur at IU? Is seeing vomit around campus commn? And because my fear is so great, is there a way for an IU student to avoid seeing vomit? (If this is important, I have applied for the Central dorms)

I would appreciate any advice. I'm horribly embarassed to have to post this, but this phobia is the one thing holding me back from being excited about coming to IU.

Thank you.

I live in Northwest and I have never seen anyone else’s vomit anywhere on our floor. And my floor parties HARD. There will occasionally be the really trashed person who won’t be able to hold in their vomit and let it all out at a party or in a bush or something outside, but I have seen this maximum of 2 times (both times I was taking care of the person).

I promise you that you’re not going to walk around campus on a Sunday morning and see vomit everywhere.

Probably stay out of the fraternity houses!

The only place I ever see it is the sinks in the bathroom and the elevator. And it’s still not that common.

If it really worries you, switch out of Central and into SE just to be safe.

I lived in Briscoe last year and now I live in a sorority house. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in fraternity houses and in my two years here, I have never once seen vomit. Ever.

you must be paired with Sig Ep

Actually I’ve never been, fresh27, but thanks for what I’m guessing is an attempt at an insult…
